Almost 1/2 A Year Old!!

It has been awhile since we last posted, and Katy is growing and changing everyday. I will do my best to recap the “Katy” events of March and April:
A lot has happened and Katy has learned many new things. Katy has learned to sit up all by herself now – and not just for a short time…but for pretty long lengths of time. Crawling is coming soon! She can basically make a circle and get around a little. But not a full out crawl yet. She has also learned to roll over…well she gets to her tummy and then can’t really get back to her back. (and vice versa) But she is working on it. Katy has also learned LOTS of new sounds. Lots of squealing!! Katy received her first tooth (bottom front-right) for Easter. Her next tooth (bottom front-left) has begun to poke through and should be here soon! She has started eating rice cereal and pureed fruits. She went bowling in March with the youth group. She also played Putt Putt with her mom and dad in Ruidoso, NM. Katy took a trip with her mommy and daddy to her Great-Grandparents (Bonnells) in late March. Katy and her parents spent five days at their house in High Rolls, NM enjoying the mountains and beautiful views. Katy had a WONDERFUL time getting to play with her Great Grandma Sue and Great Grandpa Dorsey. Katy did lots of fun things during her visit including a trip to the Alamogordo Zoo and Ruidoso. Once Katy and her folks left High Rolls, they stopped in Roswell to visit more of her great grandparents (The Prestons). Katy had a GREAT time getting to visit with her Great Grandma “Grammie” and Great Grandpa “Pappa”. After visiting with her great grandparents, Katy met some friends and their parents for dinner. (The Steven’s Family). Then Katy and her parents drove to her Grandparents (Spitsberg) house in Farwell, TX. But there were lots of bad storms and tornadoes that night…so Katy and her mom and dad had to be really careful driving there and even had to take a 50 mile detour to get to their house…since the tornadoes had caused so much damage on the regular route. Katy and her family felt very blessed that they stayed safe. They were really close to the tornadoes…but God protected them. Finally, they got to Katy’s grandparents house safe and sound and spent the weekend visiting with Grandma Tena and Grandpa Scott. Katy’s Uncle Matthew drove over from Lubbock, TX to come and visit with Katy. She loves her Uncle Matthew and was SO VERY HAPPY to see him. She even wore her special Texas Tech shirt that he gave her. (Katy’s Mommy and Daddy still say GO NMSU!!) Katy was really wiped out by the end of her long trip. But she loved visiting with everyone.
Katy’s friends Lilia and Cecily (and their parents) just moved to Albuquerque in late March and Katy is really excited. (Her mommy and daddy are too!!) She already got to play with them lots of times and even invited Lilia and Cecily and their mommy, Jennifer, to go to the zoo. Katy had a great time! Easter was super fun for Katy. She had to attend lots of church services for Holy Week and Easter….but never complained. While the Easter bunny didn’t bring candy or toys, he did bring Katy’s grandparents: Jan and James to come see her. They even got to stay with Katy while her parents took the church youth to a concert. She had lots of fun while her grandparents were in town. Easter afternoon Katy attended her first birthday party for her friend Lilia who turned 4! She had a great time playing. Katy and her friend Cecily (they are best friends…they just don’t know it yet) really had a fun time with each other. Cecily is older (she is 1yr.+ ) than Katy and really wanted Katy to crawl with her!! Soon enough Katy can crawl after her. Katy continues to stay extra busy…and her mommy promises to be better about updated her blog more often!!
Hopefully, the following pictures will help catch you up on what is going on.

Four Months Plus Some

Katy turned four months on March 1st. She visited her doctor for her four month check up and shots (ouch) last week. Katy now weighs in at about 15 1/2 lbs. and is about 26 inches tall.

Katy has been becoming more and more excited about her toys. She recently started playing in her exer-saucer (a baby shower gift). She really loves it. She also got a new chair to help her sit up. Her Bumbo...she really likes to sit in it and watch what is going on.

Katy has continued to lead a very active life...she recently went to Sacramento Methodist Assembly for ROC (Rhythm of Christ) with about 200+ mid high kids and adult sponsors. She had a great time but ended up with a little cold when she got home...but all in all, it was a wonderful weekend. Katy's mom and dad recently bought a zoo/aquarium pass so that Katy and her parents could go to the zoo or aquarium any time they wanted to. So far, Katy has been to the zoo twice and the aquarium once. She really seems to have a good time. Last Friday, Dare, Heather, Rylee, and Wyatt came to Albuquerque to go to the zoo with Katy, Jeb, and Mindy. The weather was great and everyone had a good time.

Learning to play with the toys using her feet.

Katy chews on everything!!

Katy's Been Baptized

On Sunday, February 25th Katy Susanna was baptized at First UMC in Albuquerque. Katy was pleased to have her Grandpa Scott (who is a Methodist preacher) come and baptize her. Katy didn't wear a baptismal gown (her mommy doesn't like 'fussy' stuff) but she did look pretty cute in her white sweater outfit. Along with lots of Katy's church friends, she had a few out of town family and friends that were able to make it to the event. Her Grandma Tena and Grandpa Scott, Grandma Jan and Grandpa James, Uncle Joe and Aunt Aspen, and her friends Jen, Karl, Lilia, and Cecily. Since Katy was baptized at the 8:30am service, she was still pretty sleepy (mommy and daddy are training her to sleep in!), but when Grandpa Scott put the water on her - she woke up :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Some of Katy's biggest smiles appear while
she is on her changing table or naked!

This day, Katy spit up on everything but her socks and shoes...
luckily for Katy, the less clothes she has on, the happier she is.

See! Big smiles on the changing table.

This is Katy's frontpack...she really likes it now. She went to the zoo in this.

Superbowl Party - Katy is at the top with Jeb.

Katy and one of the youth, Elisa.
Katy is staying very active. She has now attended her first Superbowl Party with the youth group and had a great time. (She was cheering for the Colts!!) Katy took her first trip to the zoo last week. Unfortunately, her mommy and daddy forgot the camera so she doesn't have any pictures to share, but luckily she has a annual pass to the zoo and aquarium so maybe they will remember the camera next time. Katy also went bowling for first time last weekend. She got to with her friends Jacob, Megan, and Luke...and their parents. They were all big enough to bowl, so Katy just helped cheer for them. Sadly, her mom and dad forgot the camera again!! They should really be better at that.

Katy wants to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine's Day!

Growing So Fast!

Katy spends lots of time at the church with her mom and dad. Luckily, she has her own little place to hang out (her pack and play) right in mom's office.

This Katy and her friend Nora.

New Year's Eve

A Very Happy Girl!

Katy LOVES her bath time...but lately she has been so worn out she falls asleep.

Katy's first day of 'school'. (This is the END of her first day :)

Katy is getting stronger and stronger. She can hold her self up pretty good now.

Growing So Fast

Wow! Katy has already been so busy this year! Katy started the new year off at a small celebration with friends up in Rio Rancho. Katy got to hang out with her friends Lilia, Hannah, Cecily, and Rachael. There were five sweet little girls - all under the age of 4!
Katy has learned the art of the smile! She started sorta smiling before Christmas...but now she love to smile at anything and anyone. Although her smile is almost impossible to catch on camera. Katy has also really started to 'talk' alot. She is starting to make lots of happy noises.
Katy has continued her travels. The middle of January took Katy to Sacramento Methodist Assembly. Mindy and Jeb were working an Emmaus Walk for Young Women and Katy's grandparents (Scott and Tena) came up to the camp and hung out with Katy the whole weekend. She had a GREAT time with her grandparents.
Katy also has a really cool friend. Her name is Nora. Nora's parents are friends with Katy's parents. And Nora's daddy is even a Methodist preacher too! Katy and Nora were born in the same hospital on the same day! They got to meet each other when they were brand new...but they have been so busy, they haven't had much time to get together. Luckily, they were finally able to do lunch a couple weeks ago! Katy was so happy to get to see Nora again. Her daddy says that Nora is her 'soul sister'.
Katy recently travelled to El Paso, TX to help her mom and dad lead a workshop at a EDE (Equipping Disciples for Excellence). She had a great time and even spent some time in the nursery at the church where the event was held.
Katy is staying busy these days with school. She started 'school' (daycare) last week. Katy goes to school all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She really likes it and is making lots of friends. Luckily for her mom and dad...'school' is just right down the hall from their offices.
February looks to be a busy month for Katy as well. Her mommy and daddy keep her pretty busy by bringing her to all their events and activities.
